Getting Digital Right

As technology advances there is a need for us, as an organisation, to become more digitally aware, digitally curious and embrace and test new digital opportunities and technologies. However, Getting Digital Right is not just about adopting new technologies. It's how Shropshire Council evolves as a business, enhancing our service delivery and how we connect with our customers, communities and staff, being better equipped to work with data to make informed decisions that drive financial and demand efficiencies.

To achieve this, we must enable our workforce to understand, implement and feel empowered to use new technologies.

Getting Digital Right is a new initiative at Shropshire Council, currently in development. The initiative will explore both digital and data competencies of the organisation and put in place a programme to ensure that our workforce is proficient in the use of digital and data but also understand the right processes and protocols to implement their own ideas and changes to create new efficiencies in service delivery.

Why do we need to develop our digital and data knowledge and skills?

  • To enable our staff to fulfil their roles effectively and be creative and curious in exploring new efficiencies.

  • Creating opportunity for leadership and talent potential through skill development and increasing job satisfaction.

  • Implement effective future planning and decision making to create efficiency, decrease costs or in some circumstances, generate income.

  • Be a forward-thinking organisation, creating space for technical and skilled ability whilst reducing administrative functions by integrating AI and automation.

Keep an eye out for further developments with Getting Digital Right.
